‘Andor’ Season 2: Why Does Bix Caleen Look So Familiar?


The Star Wars series Andor Season 2 features the return of Adria Arjona, who stars as Bix Caleen opposite Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor. What else has Arjona starred in before?

Andor, of course, is the prequel series to the 2016 Star Wars spinoff movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which leads up to the pivotal moment in the film saga where the Rebel Alliance, led by Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) and Cassian, steal construction plans for the Empire’s Death Star that expose the deadly space weapon’s biggest weakness.

Bix is a pivotal character in Andor Season 1 who has a long history with Cassian, who is her ex-boyfriend. At the conclusion of Season 1, Bix is saved by Cassian after being tortured by Imperial Security Bureau Dedra Meero (Denise Gough) to secure information.

Arjona returns as Bix for Andor Season 2, which begins streaming Tuesday night with the season’s first three episodes on Disney+.

Arjona kicked off her screen career in 2014 with a guest role in the CBS crime drama Unforgettable.

Since then, she has appeared in more than 25 film and television projects with many more on the way. Below are a few of Arjona’s roles over the years, which explains why she looks so familiar.

‘True Detective’ Season 2 (2015)

Adria Arjona stars in a recurring role in six episodes of HBO’s True Detective Season 2 as Emily, the girlfriend of California Highway Patrol Officer Paul Woodrugh (Taylor Kitsch), a military veteran with a troubled past and a doomed future.

Also in 2015, Arjona appeared in a guest role of Helena in the second episode of the first season of the Netflix hit crime drama Narcos.

‘Emerald City’ (2017)

Adria Arjona’s first lead role in a TV series came in 2017 when she played Dorothy Gale in the reimagining L. Frank Baum’s Oz books on the road to The Wizard of Oz. The NBC series ran only for one season and consisted of 10 episodes.

A year later, Arjona appeared on the big screen in the supporting role of Pan-Pacific Defense Corps Officer Julia Reyes in Pacific Rim Uprising, the sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 sci-fi hit Pacific Rim.

The film also stars John Boyega and Scott Eastwood as a pair of soldiers who pilot a Jaeger (a large, robot-like defense system) in the continuing fight against Kaiju monsters emerging from the depths of the sea.

‘6 Underground’ (2019)

Adria Arjona plays Five, aka Amelia (The Doctor), in director Michael Bay’s Netflix original action-adventure thriller 6 Underground.

Five is simply named for one of the six gifted people who have faked their deaths to join a covert group of vigilantes. Five works alongside characters played by Ryan Reynolds, Corey Hawkins, Mélanie Laurent, Ben Hardy and Dave Franco, who make up the remainder of the six in 6 Underground.

Also in 2019, Arjona starred in the Netflix original Delta Force thriller Triple Frontier opposite Ben Affleck, Pedro Pascal and Oscar Isaac.

‘Father Of The Bride’ (2022)

Adria Arjona stars as the bride-to-be, Sofia, opposite Andy Garcia as her father, Billy in the second movie remake of the 1950 movie classic Father of the Bride.

Gloria Estefan plays Sofia’s mother, Ingrid, and she and Billy are trying to put off telling Sofia and her younger sister, Cora (The Last of Us Season 2 star Isabela Merced), that they’re headed for divorce.

‘Hit Man’ (2024)

Adria Arjona stars as Maddy opposite Glen Powell’s Gary Johnson in the Netflix original action comedy Hit Man. Gary is a professor who works undercover stings for the police as a fake hitman-for-hire.

However, when Gary meets Maddy — who wants to put out a hit on her possessive husband — he becomes smitten and falls in love, and does his best to talk her out of the idea without exposing his true identity.

‘Blink Twice’ (2024)

Directed and co-written by Zoe Kravitz, Blink Twice follows a group of women, including Sarah (Adria Arjona), Frida (Naomie Ackie) and Jess (Alia Shakat), who are invited to a weekend of partying on a private island owned by tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum).

The women don’t realize that they are being drugged and victimized at night until one of them begins to put together physical clues and has scattered memories of the trauma, leading to a plan to turn the table on their attackers.
