Bills poke fun at Derrick Henry 'Lightning McQueen' nickname, topping NFL divisional round trolls

Even with the higher stakes, the trolls were still present in the NFL’s divisional round.

The Buffalo Bills defeated the Baltimore Ravens 27-25 in the AFC divisional round on Sunday.

Lamar Jackson connected with tight end Isaiah Likely on a 24-yard touchdown grab with 1:33 remaining in the game. Baltimore then lined up for a 2-point conversion to potentially send the game to overtime. However, tight end Mark Andrews dropped Jackson’s pass, maintaining Buffalo’s lead. The Bills recovered the Ravens’ ensuing onside kick, and a first-down run from Ty Johnson effectively ended the game.

Jackson threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns but had an interception and a fumble. Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen had just 127 passing yards and no touchdown passes but ran for two scores himself.

The big win for the Bills came with multiple trolls, including a clever one aimed at Ravens running back Derrick Henry. After Baltimore’s AFC wild-card victory last week, Jackson quipped that when Henry gains steam, it reminds him of Lightning McQueen in “Cars.” Henry embraced the nickname, posting a photo on X of McQueen racing past opposing vehicles.

Buffalo remembered the nickname — it posted a clip of Jackson Storm, the antagonist of “Cars 3,” taking the lead against McQueen in a race, but with a twist. The Bills edited their logo onto Storm, while McQueen had the Ravens’ one.

The Philadelphia Eagles hung on to defeat the Los Angeles Rams 28-22 in the NFC divisional round on Sunday.

A snowy Lincoln Financial Field set the scene for a Rams fourth-and-11 from the Eagles’ 22-yard line with 31 seconds left in the game. The pass from Los Angeles quarterback Matthew Stafford intended for wide receiver Puka Nacua went out of bounds, ending the drive and securing Philadelphia’s victory.

Eagles running back Saquon Barkley ran for 205 yards and two touchdowns, including a 78-yard dash for a score. Stafford had 324 passing yards and two touchdowns, while Philadelphia signal caller Jalen Hurts accounted for 198 yards plus one rushing touchdown.

The win not only advanced the Eagles to the NFC Championship Game but was also their second win of the season against the Rams. Philadelphia defeated Los Angeles 37-20 in Week 12 — and celebrated the sweep with a meme from “SpongeBob SquarePants.”

The Washington Commanders’ impressive season continues after they defeated the NFC No. 1 seed Detroit Lions on Saturday.

Washington forced five turnovers in the win, including three interceptions from Detroit quarterback Jared Goff — one of which resulted in a 40-yard pick-six. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels accounted for 350 yards and two touchdowns.

Washington’s win came with multiple trolls, including an edit of an “L” on Simba’s forehead during his birth scene in the original “Lion King.”

The Kansas City Chiefs’ quest for a three-peat is still alive after they defeated the Houston Texans on Saturday.

Houston made it a one-point game with 4:36 remaining in the third quarter. Then Patrick Mahomes connected with Travis Kelce for a touchdown early in the fourth, and Kansas City nailed a field goal with 4:38 left in the game to cushion its lead.

The Chiefs’ win came with eight sacks, their second most in a playoff game in franchise history, according to ESPN Research. They made note of that in a postgame troll.
