Tiger 3 had a wide release with the film hitting theatres across 9000 screens worldwide. The speculative lack of releases around the film also allowed a larger window for Tiger 3 to score big. Additionally, November 12 may have been technically a Sunday. But, the release date was followed by two consecutive holidays in India – making it a typical weekend, with the added festivities of Diwali weekend.
Like most of his films, Khan’s Tiger 3 has also received mixed reviews, with most critics attacking a lack of rationality and coherence in the storyline. Cameos by Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan appear to have added to the film’s apppeal.
Written by Sridhar Raghavan, Tiger 3 follows the lead R&AW spy as he embarks on yet another mission outside India. This time, he is not just serving his country – he also needs to save his family, as well as Pakistan. While Kaif and Khan step back into their roles as they own it, Hashmi offers graceful and heavy performance in his role of the antagonist.
The sequences in the film often go haywire, and can be best described by one of the film’s dialogues. In his cameo, Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan in his role of Indian spy Pathaan from his film Pathaan), tells Tiger that he relies on mental calculations and meticulously planned missions while the latter relies on style.
With Tiger 3, producers Yash Raj Films established their “spy universe” which includes the three Tiger films (Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai and Tiger 3), Tiger Shroff and Hrithik Roshan’s War, and Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan.
