Husband-and-wife duo Verity and Shenol Kizek were living in Shenol’s home town of Istanbul, Turkey, when they developed a collective fascination with Turkish textiles — particularly, handwoven cloth pieces that allowed the natural texture to shine.
It wasn’t long until the couple decided to start a business in Sydney, Australia, where their homewares label Saardé (derived from the Turkish word ‘sade’ meaning ‘simple’) was born.
Originally offering beautiful, unique textiles for the home alongside two olive oil-based body products, the brand has since taken on a global influence, expanding beyond Mediterranean styles and has introduced entire bathroom, bedroom, living, kitchen, dining and travel ranges, plus a selection of hand, body and fragrance formulations.
All of the current pieces are designed in-house — from the softest Turkish cotton bed sheets and towels to dreamy European linen bed head covers. Most of the textiles are still made in Turkey!

‘My mum would make big changes in the house twice a year, at the start of summer and winter,’ he explains. ‘This included changing carpets, transforming rooms from guest rooms to dining rooms, and sewing new bed head covers. Her creativity and dedication to refreshing our home sparked the idea of creating bed heads with easily changeable slipcovers, allowing everyone to enjoy a fresh look with minimal effort.’’
The ‘Enes’ bedding collection is made from Saardé’s signature, muslin-like crinkled cotton and comes in three earthy colours, terracotta, clay and white. The linen bed head slipcovers come in oatmeal, olive, nutmeg or ivory, and also include an internal bed head frame.
